vividwireless provides wireless broadband using 4G technology. Unlike other providers, we only use a wireless connection (not cable or DSL). Our technology is purpose built for data rather than mobile phone services. the technical details
We use Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) technology, also known as 4G. This uses a large number of small base station antennas to provide wireless broadband access. As you move around our coverage area with your vividwireless Wi-Fi enabled device, your WiMAX modem connects you to the closest base station for seamlessly fast Internet access.
WiMAX also supports Quality of Service (QoS), which prioritises different types of traffic. Voice traffic is given the highest priority, then standard web and email traffic, and then peer-to-peer (such as file-sharing) traffic.
vividwireless owns the licences for between 70MHz and 100MHz of 2.3 GHz and 3.5 GHz spectrum in every Australian capital city (except Hobart and Darwin). We use the 2.3 GHz spectrum for our WiMAX network.
how do i connect to your network?
All you need to do is buy a vividwireless device, choose a data plan or bundle and activate your device.
Because everyone uses the Internet differently and in different places, we offer three different kinds of devices.
vividwireless home gateway – creates a home Wi-Fi network or connects to your computer using an Ethernet cable at home and is plugged into the mains power. You can add a vividwireless phone plan too.
vividwireless USB modem – designed for portable computer devices such as laptops or notebooks. Plug it into any compatible Internet device with a USB port and you’re online within our coverage area. Boost your signal with an optional USB modem booster accessory.
ViViFi® Wi-Fi hotspot – a portable Wi-Fi modem that lets you connect multiple personal devices at home or on the go within our coverage area. It’s our portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
